5mm wetsuit

The 5mm wetsuit is the most popular wetsuit thickness in the UK, especially with those who dive down on the South coast.  In fact, in the height of summer, some people may find it a little too warm and have to flush their suit from time to time. Perfect for spearfishing and freediving alike, the 5mm wetsuit tends to tick all the boxes for warmth and durability while not sacrificing comfort and dexterity.

Our various brands are made from a different type of neoprene to conventional wetsuits: these are resilient to compression compared with standard watersport wetsuits that are designed to be used above the water’s surface. This means that our suits retain their thickness while diving at depth, giving you consistent insulation and keeping you warm and toasty.

Our 5mm wetsuits are the ideal thickness for diving in the UK through most of the year, providing plenty of protection against the cold. If you choose the jacket + farmer John trouser combination, this gives you a total of 10mm of neoprene over your core, perfect for our waters. For divers who still feel the chill, you could layer with a 2mm vest.

Most if not all of our 5mm spearfishing wetsuits have additional features for dedicated for spearos such as reinforced knee and elbow pads for added durability and protection, together with a loading chest pad and a torch pocket.
